The Master of Science, Major in Christian Counseling & Therapy

This M.Sc. differs from most undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate Christian Counseling curricula with its focus on current and specific issues that are challenging adults and young people in all economic levels. The veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan; employment stress; peer pressure; drugs; environment; and family violence, have burst on the scene as never before. Christian Counselors who lack specific training and credentials to bring remedies are finding it difficult to satisfactorily cope with many of these issues. The Core Competencies in the Atlantic Coast M.Sc. curriculum equip the therapist to rescue hope and improve the client’s quality of life.

The six required subjects in the M.Sc. curriculum: Addiction Counseling; Treating Domestic Violence; Suicide Prevention; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; Patient and Family Counseling; and Christian Counseling; address the most prevalent mental and emotional problems challenging the therapist in both small cities and major metropolitan areas. The two electives are chosen to personalize the curriculum. These are: Alzheimer's Counseling; Anger Management; Counseling for Women; Counseling Adolescents; Counseling Gays and Lesbians; Grief Counseling for Christians; Marriage and Family Counseling; Hospice and Nursing Home Ministry.

Scholarship.
